Ayurvedic Treatment of Nasal Polyps

Nasal polyps is a bothersome disease. Usually, patients have trouble in breathing and feel that their nose passage has been clogged up. Disturbed sleep, reduced sense of taste and smell, shortness of breath and nose bleeding furthermore robs the joy of one’s life. Putting up with the perturbing symptoms isn’t a solution. Adopting allopathic treatment such as steroid therapy or surgery does no good. The polyps may shrink or get surgically removed but they’ll redevelop. Hence, you need to adopt a safe holistic treatment to cure the disease from its roots and feel at ease.

What are Nasal Polyps?

Prolonged nasal or chest allergies i.e. chronic cold, cold allergy, allergic rhinitis, sinus/sinusitis, allergic bronchitis and asthma leads to the accumulation of mass in the nose to prevent the entry of foreign particles. Thus, nasal polyps are chronic, abnormal growths inside the nasal cavity or paranasal sinuses in response to allergy particles.

Can Xylometazoline nasal sprays or surgery eradicate nasal polyps?

Prolonged use of steroidal nasal sprays increase the size of nasal polyps.Often, doctors suggest surgical removal of nasal polyps. But, surgical removal isn’t helpful as the polyps redevelop. This happens because the actual cause of nasal polyps is allergy which needs to be treated. Hence, Xylometazoline nasal sprays or surgery cannot eradicate nasal polyps.

Proven Research-Based Home Remedies For Patients Suffering From Nasal polyp

  1. Put 2-2 drops of Indian breed desi cow ghee such as Allergy Rakshak Ghee in nostrils every morning. The ghee makes a protective coat in nasal mucosa so the allergy causing particles cannot touch your nasal mucosa. Thus, ghee coat keeps allergies at bay.
  2. Add 2 gms of Saindhav Namak(rock salt) to Til Tel (Sesame seed oil). Warm it and apply on the chest as well as back. After this take a good steam for 10-15 minutes. It is a good Swedana Karma and helps to expel the Kapha or mucous from hidden areas of the lungs.
  3. Drink Haridra(Turmeric) mixed in milk everyday.
  4. Gandoosha (Gargle) by mixing triphala, yashtimadhu and Saindhava in 50 mL of water for 5-7 (min).
