Ayurvedic Perspective of Mold Allergy

In ancient Ayurvedic texts, mold allergy has been displayed under the category of Dusht Pratishay i.e. an imbalance between the Pitta and Kapha Doshas. Inorder to get rid of mold allergy, proper attention to the Ojas i.e. the immunity and the Jatharagni i.e. the digestive fire should be given. The herbal medicines which are usually used in the treatment of mold allergy are Chitrak(Plumbago zeylanica), Haridra(Curcuma longa), Tulsi(Ocimum sanctum), Pippali(Piper longum) and Amla(Phyllanthus emblica).

Single Proven Home Remedy for Mold Allergy

Put two-two drops of pure desi cow’s ghee in nostrils in the morning. It will make a protective barrier in the nose so that spores will not be able to touch nasal mucosa so nose will be protected. Hence, allergic reaction will not start.

Preventive Measures

  1. Keep your basements dry by using a dehumidifier.
  2. Immediately repair any water leakage in your home
  3. Remove wet carpets from the home.
  4. Clean garbage cans regularly.
  5. Monthly scrubbing of sinks and tubs is must.
  6. Clean refrigerator and drip pans every other week.
  7. Limit indoor houseplants and check that the ones present inside should have leaves which are free from mold.
